The worst breakfast in Scotland I have ever had. Saturday 10am (it opens at 9) three adults for full breakfasts at self service buffet. We had to wait for eggs to be fried. Why did we have to wait so long, because they had to overcook them until the yolks were hard almost all of the way through. The bacon must have been cooked at 9 as it was a slightly warm rubber rasher with a dark face finish. The luke warm almost cooked link sausages matched the temperature of the black pudding which was probably well cooked an hour ago but did not improve under heat for so long so had a hard surface and rubberising centre. The mushrooms were good. Having toured Scotland for a week each year for forty+ years, I have always been impressed with Scottish breakfasts until this. We have eaten here in years gone by, it looks like the once impressive quality here has also gone by. What a shame.
Stopped here for elevenses on route to holiday. Had wonderful scones with butter and jam and coffee. Sat in the sunny conservatory and listened to the piper before going for a look around the shops. Sandwiches and meals looked excellent so will stop here again for a meal.
Great shops but skip the restaurant. Undercooked soggy steak pie and apparently the fish chips are for coaches only ?
Usually stop off here when travelling to or from Scotland. Nice coffee but the scones here are extremely crumbly and fell apart when I was trying to spread some clotted cream, which, by the way, costs an eye watering £1.15 for just a small tub. They know how to get you in a place like this that’s for sure.
