If you’re searching for an authentic, no-frills local restaurant with excellent seafood and a pleasant ambiance, this is the spot to check out. The Guinness is fantastic as well!
This restaurant is a hidden treasure. We received a warm welcome, enjoyed breathtaking views, and indulged in amazing food. Our meal was perfect, and Pamela made us feel right at home. The rustic charm of the building added to the experience, and the food was beautifully presented and full of flavor. Dining al fresco on a hot summer evening was a treat, and we look forward to returning in winter to enjoy a hot whiskey overlooking the bay. Thank you to everyone who made our evening so memorable; we can't wait to come back!
If you want to experience fantastic views and Irish quirkiness at its best then eat and stay here. The room with verandah is fantastic and we actually had some food brought up there to sit and eat al fresco. Room was clean and newly decorated and ensuite. The food is fantastic and you can even sit and watch the lobsters being unloaded from the tiny pier in the harbour. But don't go here if you're going to complain and condemn the place for not being immaculate...its an old country hotel with just a few rooms ready for use and with great food and wine and a very typical Irish relaxed feel. Thanks to Pamela, Joe and Marie and the young bar staff for a great couple of days!
On advice from the couple we were staying with, we ventured to Rossbeg to find Dawros. Google maps took us down to a field.. But we eventually found it! It was really worth the effort. The place has a real old world charm about it. I didn't have a starter as I'd eaten earlier just to have a few pints(thanks ridiculous covid rules). My wife and friends all had starters which were perfectly cooked and full of flavour. This continued into the main, I had the lobster which was just so flavoursome, I mean Jesus, i'm drooling just thinking about it. My wife said it was the best fish she'd ever had! Staff were so nice and friendly and our host, Joe (I think) was charming and great craic. Will be back here again. Outstanding!
We rented a house not far from Dawros Bay House so we were fortunate to have the opportunity to have lunches, dinners and pub time at the House. On our last night in Dawros the Molloys (owners of Dawros Bay House) hosted a "Taste of Donegal "dinner for 30 people lucky enough to have reservations. The dining room was beautiful...with lots of candles and beautiful table setting (complete with souvenir pieces of Donegal Tweed) and the food was fantastic. The best crab cakes ever; and the best and freshest lobster. It was a magical evening in an authentic old Inn...With one foot in modern sensibilities (the quality of the food and drink) and one foot in the romantic past of Dawros Bay House it is a fun experience.
