Shorty's Somewhat Fancy - Des Moines

Large lil hidden gem, all entrance away, small cover, fun diveable

Under roca; entrance is in the street. typical dipping but stock menu with roca. blackberry bramble cocktail is delicious. also had margherita flatbread, which is also good. a bit expensive, but I'd eat here again.

Awesome food and Awesome bartender! We will be back for sure.

It's not that people don't know about Shorty's, it's just that if you aren't looking for it, you won't find it, either. The dark basement bar has music playing, sports on TV, and an atmosphere that can range from raging good times to casual drinks with friends. It's a nice spot tucked in downtown Des Moines. Go down the basement where the ceiling is a bit low and enjoy the dark man cave-like atmosphere for a couple cold ones.

There are few places on earth where a dipping and fine eating coexist. shorty is one of those places. it is kind of like steppdecke from denim and white tablecloth. they will understand when they go as they should, and see the highly rated restaurant that sits on shorty’s, so that the community menu. like a delicious hat on the head of a drunk man. the three times I was there, the only thing that was eating and drinking was the bartender. what a Jewel.
