Chontong Thai - Delmar

I used to order takeout from here, and the food was pretty decent. However, I've decided to lower my rating after an experience I had recently. Their website states that they're open until 9:00 PM, so I called for takeout around 8:30 to 8:40 PM one evening, only to be told that the kitchen was closed. There was no apology or acknowledgment of any changes to their hours. As a result, I took my business to Sweet Basil Thai restaurant, which is just two miles away. It's a bit more expensive, but the food is good and they're open when they say they will be.

The curry was absolutely delicious, and the rice complemented it well. The noodles were also very tasty!

The restaurant was exceptionally clean, and the service was both quick and friendly. We shared an order of spring rolls, which were light, crispy, and flavorful. I ordered the beef pad Thai, while my son opted for the beef noodle soup. The beef in both dishes was incredibly tender! The pad Thai had a unique twist compared to what I’ve had before; it was quite sweet with a strong orange and citrus flavor. I managed to eat the beef, sprouts, and some noodles, but the sweetness made it difficult for me to finish the meal. In contrast, the beef noodle soup was delicious from start to finish and served in a huge bowl. My teenager struggled to finish it despite having a big appetite. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, and I will definitely be returning.

Dry af $8 tofu with drops of sauce. Supposed to be peanut sauce but they just crushed like 3 peanuts into duck sauce. Rest of the food was mediocre, Pad Thai tasted vinegary. There’s better Thai in town.

Vegans and vegetarians beware! Sat down on a Thursday night with no one else seated in the restaurant. Was told that for ordering an entree they could either remove the seafood sauce or the eggs, but not both. So here it is mandatory when orderingan entree to eat either fish sauce or eggs. Server was very rude about the whole issue, so will never eat here again, andrecommend no vegans or vegetarians do either
