Contribuiți la feedbackDrinks: took forever. They have a Malbec recommended by waiter too tart for me. Ouch!I wrote this in the moment, to preserve my true feelings at each serving. Mussels: Are these mussels? They are so bland, which is odd because the broth is salty (but still not good). I much prefer the mussels everywhere else I 've ever had them (thinking of Meddlesome Moth at the moment).Cheese plate: more plate than cheese. The soft goat cheese is great, as is the blue cheese that actually tastes like Parmesan to me. Didn 't care for the carmelized onions. Honeycomb was a nice touch, but I wish there had been more of it.
Service and atmosphere are great! Came for brunch and ordered the turkey sandwich and breakfast flat bread. The sandwich was good, nothing special and the side salad didn't have much dressing. The breakfast flat bread was really good and I would definitely recommend. Very cute patio area and I would love to try their dinner!
The restaurant is located a little away from the Main Street of the happening street. At first, we were a little hesitant walking from the Wild Detective there, but once we got there, the place was nice and cute! There was a nice patio area with heaters (surprisingly it's getting slightly colder in Dallas at nights these days, guess it is winter! My friend and I decided to start with the cheese board. It has a good variety of cheeses but being given a heads up on what was on there would've been nice since not everyone likes all cheeses. My friend ordered a pizza while I had the duck confit since it was on the menu at the time. Note the menu changes seasonally so it will be different depending on when you go. Both were delicious! My friend was highly impressed with the pizza. The duck confit had a great crispy outer breading. Service was mediocre (hence the 4 stars . It was hard to get the attention of our waiter. Though it was our first time there, and won't be the last. Definitely worth checking out.
The restaurant that started it all in this pocket of Oak Cliff is still one of the best around. It's our neighborhood spot where we can always count on a super delicious meal in a relaxed environment with great service. The menu has its seasonal touches, but there are a few core items we almost always order. The beer steamed mussels are deeply flavorful, perfect on a cold night. The beet salad is bright and balanced, another mainstay not to miss. The twig branch flatbread is easy to share with a nice kick from the goat cheese. I will usually go for something more seasonal for an entree, if we don't just share a bunch of the smaller plates. The pork chop is a favorite for sure. The goat tacos on the other hand were actually a bit underwhelming. Love the bar program at Bolsa as well. It's seriously all good at Bolsa and needs to be supported because we thought they might close down recently. Stay strong Bolsa!
Bolsa has been a mainstay in the bishop Arts district for many many years. Today I come for brunch but when I am here for dinner the must try the chorizo and beer mussels. They are so good that I tried to make em at home. They also have awesome lunch specials. For lunch I love the 1/2 flat bread and 1/2 salad for $10. For today's brunch I opted for the Shrimp and eggs. Which is crispy shrimp with bacon cheddar frittata and creole remoulade. The Shrimp were perfectly crisp and the frittata scrumptious. If you get this dish you may want to order a biscuit on the side (if they haven't run out) or even their hash potatoes. The dish is very good. It's just, when I think of breakfast I like starches. With protein from shrimp and protein from eggs, you just need to throw in another food group to make it more complete for you body. Can't wait to come back and try another brunch dish.
