Twisted Trompo - Dallas

My teenager and I were starving, and Trompos was the only place open late in downtown Dallas, aside from fast food. It did not disappoint! I had street tacos while my kid enjoyed a quesadilla, and we shared some warm, crispy churros. It felt like a real family gathering that night, with lots of moms, dads, and kids around. As visitors in the city, we felt safe and comfortable. The food was authentic and delicious... I only wish I had stayed in town longer to come back for more!

I discovered this restaurant through a Google suggestion, and it turned out to be the best recommendation of our trip to Dallas. Even though it was late, the place was bustling with families. The food was excellent—generous portions and fantastic flavors. And those churros! They were hot and crunchy on the outside, with a wonderfully soft and gooey center. As for kid-friendliness, there were plenty of families with kids, making it a great spot for all ages.

There's not much else to say – these are the best tacos in Downtown Dallas. The margaritas are quite good too. Even after I stopped working downtown, I've made the trip to eat here several times. Food: 5/5

ATMOSPHERE: My husband and I wanted breakfast tacos on a Sunday morning so we decided to hop a few top rated taco places.. when we arrived and began making our order here at around 11am, a shirtless homeless man walks out of the woman’s restroom… they only opened an hr prior at 10am so this tells me there is no standard walk through of the property being managed at open or closing. The lady taking our order did holler at her peer associate on the floor when she noticed the homeless man coming out of the restroom but like what if I had needed to use the restroom prior to that man walking out of it???For safety and cleanliness purposes a standard end of shift and start of shift walk through should be enforced in any place located in downtown Dallas. (Unfortunately I don’t have pictures of these events taking place but I’m sure the security footage inside the restaurant would have caught it on 7/9.)FOOD: Tacos were 50%filled,We ordered breakfast tacos.Breakfast tacos run about $2.50+ currently, there was an up charge for meat and I have legit 3 crumbs of bacon and barely any egg/cheese in my taco, of course I’m gonna think WTH. Now I will say they did give me 1 full piece of bacon after I complained but why are we giving crumbs of bacon?? I’m providing a picture of this taco to give an example of the true underwhelming amount of bacon I was originally given.. switch bleeds into my service review it was good when I complained but wish I didn’t have to.

Speedy service and delicious food. We ordered ahead for a large group off their “large party” menu. It was more than enough food and extremely affordable. Cheapest meal we ate all week.
