Ruins - Dallas

They failed to honor a reservation for a 30th birthday celebration and seated us at bar stools outside. When we inquired about the situation, the staff were extremely rude, explaining that they prioritized keeping an open table for the sake of their regulars.

This is a charming little place (and I emphasize "little" – it’s quite a small venue) located in the Deep Ellum area. I visited in late June 2022. There’s a nice patio right outside the main entrance, and the overall atmosphere is enjoyable. However, while the food was decent, it was definitely overrated. The drink options, which seemed heavily promoted on their website, were also disappointing and not worth the hype. I was glad to catch a live show and spend some time with the bands, and it’s definitely worth the visit to support your favorite artists if they're performing. However, I recommend saving your money on food and drinks and heading across the street to Angry Dog or any of the other nearby spots that offer better quality, variety, and service.

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday night and were very pleased with our experience! The menu offers a great variety of food and drink options. We ordered the al pastor tacos, chicken tinga, and carnitas tacos, all of which were expertly seasoned and delicious. The corn elotes were among the best I've had in Dallas. Their drinks, especially the mezcal-based ones, were excellent! The service was prompt, and the staff were courteous and attentive to our needs. The ambiance of the restaurant is unique and refreshing for the area. I highly recommend this place! We’re already looking forward to our next visit to explore more of their menu. Overall, it was a fantastic experience!

The decor in this place is wild. If ever there's a moment of silence in your group, look at the decor and the conversation erupts all over again. Dark and a bit tripy in all the right ways of course. The cocktail menu is very innovative, so be daring and try new things...... says the guy who got a Tito's, water and a splash of cranberry. I have had multiple cocktails on the list and I haven't sent one back. Or waiter was very attentive and kept an eye on us, paced everything very well so we didn't feel rushed. The Elotes tasted great, however, I could have done without the stale Cheetos toppings. As for the taco, let's just say, my plate was left clean. Finger licking good. I'll be back, I haven't had enough of Ruins.

Food is unique and crave-worthy Snapper taco was Spicy and delish!Enjoyed the mushroom taco and calabasa also. Service was great. Anita is engaging and helpful. LOVE the ambiance, decor and the music was really nice. Fun spot unlike any other in Dallas!
