I had the idea to have afternoon tea on our way back to Sydney, so we decided to stop at this restaurant. We ended up ordering the scones and jam.
Winner, winner, winner! I decided to veer off the highway and try this place out because I was tired of the same old Macca's, Subway, Hungry Jacks routine.
We were travelling to Canberra from Sydney and needed somewhere for a coffee and rest. We arrived mid week around 1.00pm during the 2nd week of the NSW school holidays. A simple sandwich and coffee was all we wanted but they were out of tomatoes and bread. Also the Chicken Pie that I settled on was dry and "overcrisp". Further, the coffee was only just warm and very average. Yes, it was busy and when I was ordering and found they were out of a number of menu items (they still had hot psta food) I was told that they had been very bust over the previous fortnight ! ! I would have thought an increase in food quantity was in order ! !. This place had been recommended but did not meet any of our expectations and a number of people arrived and then left after seeing the lack of available food. Other than that parking is good and the view across the Olive groves is pretty good as well. Pity it was badly let down otherwise !
We have stopped here twice for lunch when driving down from Sydney to Canberra. It is a much better option than the other highway food choices. It is a nice property with a pleasant outlook over the olive grove, but the restaurant does need some love and attention. The food is generous, great flavour and hearty and the staff are welcoming though service is basic - you place your order at the register - the tables have been sticky on both occasions and the table and chairs rickety. Much better than a Big Mac, but could do with some investment.
