The Village Fish And Chips - Croydon

I have never had a piece of cod so overcooked and dry and the chips are the worst i've ever had. One way to make customers not come back. First and last time. There was a lot of chips but would sooner have less and them be nice. Looking at the good reviews maybe its hit and miss. It should be good all the time if you want your customers to come back. Your in this business to make money surely!!!

The portion sizes at this restaurant are incredible! It was my first time visiting, and I got a large cod and chips takeaway for £10. It was easily enough food for two people. The portion of chips was huge. I've had McDermott's before, which is a highly rated restaurant, and this place is almost on par. Unfortunately, you can't dine in as it is only for takeaway.

I visited this restaurant for the first time since it changed ownership because McDermotts was closed due to COVID. It was a terrible experience and I will not be returning. Although the chips and fish initially looked good with generous portions, the quality was extremely poor. The cod was not fresh and was dry and stringy, with a thick batter. The chips were also very dry, as if they had been reheated. This restaurant used to be good when it was under the original owners, but it is clear that the new owners have let the quality drop. Customers can easily tell when something as simple as fish and chips is not up to standard.

I recently tried the fish and chips takeaway from this restaurant and I was very impressed. The food was freshly cooked while I waited and the selection was great. The service was also excellent. I highly recommend this place.
