Comfortable, tasty and extremely affordable (the huge cup of navy beans and ham was $3). Everything needed some salt, but this is to be expected as the clientele is usually older (at least when I was there). This is not a problem, but salt shakers exist, and the flavors were phenomenal. Remembered many good meals in days of yore.
For the truckers who park across the street at the truck stop as long as there is space, this place is absolutely excellent South-Homestyle food. The average price is from $9.50 a plate to $15.95 basically all that a real home would have cooked meal. Including seafood on the menu. I went for the comminuted grilled pigs with crispy greens and fried pimples. For everyone out there, please remember, covid-19 has met the little mother and pop places hard. This place deserves our business absolutely. You did an excellent job. Of course I would ask that the waiter doesn't wear sweaters, but if the food is so good and the atmosphere is great, I'm still passing by.
Had a great afternoon dinner here in the Old South. The meat loaf special on Monday was delicious with a huge part that also contains two sides. The pinto beans were beautifully spiced. We also ordered their soup and sandwich special. I chose meat store sandwich, again a huge, delicious part of meat store on a Hoagie hall. The vegetable soup met the place. Fast and friendly service was a plus.
This place is phenomenal! Stopd on a work trip and I will definitely make a trip back just to visit. I had the chicken n waffles and a side of fried pimples. Very suggest!!
My father and I have been here a few times and I like this little small town staple. The service is always excellent and the food reminds me of up north diner food. The fried seafood platters are good, as is the hamburger steak which my father seems to love. I definitely recommend stopping in.
