Josephine Estelle - Cozumel

Came late one day and sat at the bar behind the restaurant. Can't say anything about the food cuz we didn't eat. Drinks were OK. Hubby got an old fashioned which was good. I ordered and off-menu hot toddy and the “fresh squeezed lemon” had gone bad and there were sour and bitter lemon remnants floating in my drink. Otherwise it was a small and cute bar. I recommend getting something off the drink menu, though, preferably nothing with lemon. Bar tender was nice.

From the moment we arrived 20 minutes early to an empty restaurant and were told we couldn't be seated until our reservation (then didn't seat us until 20 minutes after our reservation) I knew this would be a disaster. Our waiter (a) had no personality and (b) did not even assist me with my gluten free questions (ironically I choose this restaurant because they were “good” with gf needs). Hostess said they could accommodate us at the bar, but that was clearly not true. Took 2 hours just to get drinks.

Food was exceptionally good. Lobster pasta was to die for. Points off for service. Waiter was almost drone-like. Our perception was that he was miffed because we shared an entree and order numerous apps. He didn’t offer any suggestions. He just had a bad attitude.

After being turned away from 2 prior places we happened upon this place. Oh my word what luck for us! The food and the staff were a 15/10 and the inside was gorgeous. I can't wait to go back the next time I'm in town.
