Contribuiți la feedbackI decided to try out The Coppice after hearing great reviews about their carvery. Wow, this is the best carvery we have ever had, and we have tried many around town. The selection of fresh, piping hot vegetables was impressive, and the roast potatoes, parsnips, and cauliflower cheese were delicious. There was plenty of cheese in the cauliflower cheese, and everything looked so appetizing on display. The only suggestion I have is for them to take better photos of their carvery, as it looks even better in person than it does on their Facebook page. The prices were great, the drinks were reasonably priced, and the staff was friendly. I will definitely be recommending this place to others and can't wait to come back.
The carvery at this restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced. The standard size portion was more than enough, making the extra large plate option seem unnecessary. The apple crumble servings were also very generous. While the service was a bit slow at times, the staff was friendly and polite. It may benefit from having a few more employees, but overall it was an excellent meal.
What a fantastic find by my wife, down in Cornwall on holiday, fancied lunch out and found this little gem. Fantastic value and great service with a smile. Our children had a great time at this family pub.
We used to come here regularly 30 years ago, in fact we would bring holidaymakers here it was that good. Having been away from the area for years, we were interested to see how the place had fared. When we entered, there were kids running around the entrance, and we noted a disco being set up in the main bar by a man of around 80, and a young bloke engrossed on his phone. The lady behind the bar, who made it clear she didn 't work there, assured us it was nice and quiet in the lounge. We were asked if we would be eating, but the menu looked uninspiring, and the whole place didn 't look that clean, so we declined, ordering drinks only. My ale had a slight vinegary taste, indicating the pipes hadn 't been cleaned, but my wife 's peach cider was excellent. Then the disco started up, at blistering volume, music from the 1980 's which was not to our taste, but it was bearable, although when I ordered my next beer I had to do so by sign language, as speaking was out of the question. Another couple came into the lounge and ordered a bowl of chips, otherwise the kids were still running around, a few people in the pool room, with a boy rolling on the floor, but nobody in the bar as it was too painful. Then the music changed to electronic techno for some inexplicable reason, the secret of a disco is to read the room and play to the tastes of the audience, which admittedly was difficult as there wasn 't one. I would have mentioned this to the bar person and elderly 'DJ ' but conversation was impossible, so we left.
Fantastic food, massive portions and great service. Really lovely little pub with a great beer garden. We will be back!
