While the food was acceptable, the reheating process left the rice clumpy and dried out the quesadillas. As we attempted to eat, another server delivered a sizzling fajita dish to another table, but instead of the usual steam, it was emitting smoke. This unpleasant smell of burnt food quickly filled the dining room, causing patrons around us to rub their eyes and comment on the situation. We decided to cancel our evening plans to avoid smelling like burnt fajita meat later on. I ended up having to send my coat for cleaning and wash our clothes just to get rid of the odor. I also noticed that other diners were having issues with their meals, with some sending dishes back, so it wasn’t just us experiencing problems. The cleanliness of the restaurant left much to be desired; I had to request new salt and pepper shakers because the ones on the table were coated in grime. When I received replacements, they were just as dirty. The tables were not clean, and the benches were filled with crumbs. I was surprised to see on their menu that they charge for chips and salsa after the first basket—this is quite uncommon for Mexican restaurants and felt rather cheap. On the positive side, the manager and his wife did come by to apologize for the cold food, though they did not offer any discount for the poor experience. Our waitress did bring us refill drinks in clean glasses, and the salsa was unique and enjoyable, with a strong vegetable flavor rather than just tomato and jalapeño. The red sauce was also good, lacking the overly salty taste that many Mexican restaurants struggle with. Overall, I would rate their food as fairly good, though the selection for non-meat eaters was quite poor, lacking a vegetarian menu section. I suspected they might cook with lard, as there was a distinct smell. Service was exceptionally slow and ineffective, and while the dining area had noticeable cleanliness issues, the restroom was the cleanest I’ve ever seen. Prices were also slightly higher than at most similar establishments. Regrettably, I have no intention of returning, and I would only recommend this restaurant to my enemies.
The restaurant was quite busy, but unfortunately, the food and service were underwhelming. With so many other excellent Mexican spots nearby, it’s hard to understand why anyone would choose this place when there are better options available.
We indulged during our ten-state road trip and decided to eat here. The food was delicious, and our waitress was very nice.
I've been visiting this restaurant for almost 20 years, and it remains one of my favorite places. The salsa is absolutely fantastic; I could eat it every day! I don't think I've ever ordered anything that I didn't enjoy. On my last visit, I tried the molcajete, and it was incredible. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
This is a fantastic locally-owned Mexican restaurant that isn't part of a chain. The service was excellent—quick and friendly. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from. The bar area even had a couple of games playing. While the bathroom could use a bit more attention in terms of cleanliness, overall, it's a wonderful place to dine.
