Broad Axe Bisto Coramba Hotel

Not too far from Coffs Harbour and definately worth the drive. We joined other family members for Lunch on a perfect sunny winters day and sat outside in the fresh air and sun. The beaut view over adjoining dairy farms is totally relaxing and hard to beat. We enjoyed a variety of meals all of which were good and reasonable priced. Then a Band came on and played some really good music so it all turned out a totally pleasant day that we will certainly repeat soon.

We had an enjoyable afternoon recently with good friends. The beer was good and the bar staff very friendly. We thought the menu was overpriced. Those who had the special were the happiest!

Since the current chef took over the Broad Axe Bistro, my husband and I have started eating there frequently. I recommend stopping at Coramba pub for a meal to anyone passing by. For a pub restaurant, the food is always enjoyable to eat, the staff are very friendly and accommodating, and the meal sizes are very generous. The prices are really reasonable too. My favourite is the Sunday surf and turf special. The steak is always cooked to perfection, the prawns are a generous size, and the lashings of béarnaise sauce served on the side, caters for those who like a little or a lot. Personally, I like a lot.For quality and service I give the Broad Axe Bistro the big thumbs up.

We stopped here on our way through after being given a recommendation for this place. The views are nice from the garden and we decided to stay and eat - big mistake. We ordered our food at 5.30 as soon as the restaurant opened - it took them 35minutes to provide us with chicken and sweet potato fries. When they arrived the fries looked like they had been through an incinerator and were rock hard and inedible. I took the plate back and a very surly man came out and asked what the problem was. When I advised him that the fries were inedible he looked at them and said 'yeah they look a bit overdone' and offered to do some more. I asked him how long they would take as we had already been waiting 45 minutes to which he bellowed at me 'well we've only been open for 35minutes so tell me how you've been waiting 45' ok so I was ten minutes out - but he then proceeded to walk off saying it would be about 3hrs before my food was ready. I took my plate of food back to the table and my husband then went back and asked for a refund as we wanted to leave and the food was beyond inadequate. The same man refused to give a refund as only half the dinner was overdone and he wouldget it sorted in ten minutes. We waited untilIt arrived, ate two mouthfuls and then left. Whoever this dreadful man is he needs to leave as his social skills are non existent never mind his customer service. We found him to be extremely intimidating and I can honestly say I've never come across anyone quite like him in the service industry before. Thank goodness I don't live locally!!!

It's not often that you walk away from a meal feeling bullied! The food was terrible and over priced.Kids meals were cold. Half of the chicken nuggets were fish. Salad looked like it had been served onto the plate yesterday.Steak ordered medium - served beyond well done.Veggie burger pattie burnt.When I complained to the waitress about the meals the chef came out and said 'No problem here, is there?!' and began to walk away. When I said "Yes, there is a problem" he became very loud and intimidating in his manner, standing over us and raising his voice. He told us we would not be served here again if we were to return. This is no way to treat people, especially locals.The food and service used to be great here. And I hope things will improve again because it is such a fantastic location. But unfortunately, I cannot recomend this place at all.
