Alma's Place - Compton

I apologize for my preference to support businesses owned by people of color, but I was not a fan of the yams. The greens were well-prepared and had a pleasant taste. I also tried the fries, which were excellent. The service was good, but if I were to return, I would likely only order the chicken and fries. Unfortunately, I did not get to try the potato salad. Overall, I would give this restaurant 3 stars.

The ambiance was okay, but I felt like something was lacking. The owner mentioned that the Food Network had recently renovated the restaurant. I also realized that it was the opening day. My mother and I wanted to support a black-owned business as we were trying out different places every weekend. The lady who took our order was friendly and suggested some dishes, which are the only reasons why I am giving this restaurant 2 stars instead of 1. With that thought, we decided to have dinner there. I went with my mother and ordered the chicken and waffles, along with a large mango lemonade. My mother ordered the pumpkin special, which came with salmon croquettes and sides of greens. We also got a red velvet cake slice for later. The waffles seemed like the type served at school breakfasts, microwaved and definitely not homemade. They were slimy, uncooked, and not safe to eat. The fish was overcooked and oily, taking an hour to prepare. The greens were watery, dirty, and had a strong chemical taste. The eggs and biscuits were mediocre. The lemonade was overly sweet, almost undrinkable. When I gave it to my mother, she had the same reaction. The cake was decent, but I personally didn't enjoy it. Overall, I would not recommend visiting this restaurant in its current state. If you do plan to visit, stick to the bakery options as the other food is disappointing.

They accept EBT, but for lunch at $12, they should offer larger portion sizes. The portions are small, almost like a sample. They are not any better than Dulans or other similar restaurants.

Absolutely the best customer service. I've ever seen that I'm a consumer. my man and I ordered 3 wings dinner, and since it was our first time, the owner gave us extra of everything. excellent part for the price, and it is not expensive. if you have to order her lavender limonade. it's delicious. I'm back when I'm back in town.

Alma need to get the blackboy out the front because he is so rude... this resturant will loose out on alot because of the customer service.. he's offering me a mask because my mask was broke and I told him its fine and he like o well what you want to order? And this is my second time with him being rude
