We decided to order only appetizers and first courses, as they appealed to us more than the main courses. The food and service did not disappoint. We started with the largest glasses of prosecco we'd ever seen and ended with a chocolate souffle to die for....perfection. Inbetween were fabulous a prawn appetizer with eggplant pate, an octopus first course, and a fish ravioli dish all prepared with skill and imagination. This is NOT ordinary Italian cuisine. This chef cares about creating dishes that reflect his creative approach. Bravo!
We were visiting friends who were staying at the Hilton (across the street and decided to lunch out rather than staying, this place was already recommended by friends. Quaint place, the entrance is located on a sidewalk (ring the bell! and need to be careful and quick because that street is a main road that connects Switzerland to Como (or viceversa . The restaurant has no assigned parking spots, so need to park nearby (and pay or not depending where . The restaurant itself as written by others is very small, few tables, better reserve in advance. Ambiance inside looks like a wedding place setting, shabby chic, cute. I ordered a raw seafood platter (I think around 25,00 something, I didn’t pay the bill was excellent; had the chance to taste the scallops with spinaches, it was tasty, the same for the pasta dishes and the steaks; food was quite good and well presented. The toilet had small complimentary toothbrush/toothpaste for guests, a nice touch for those who care oral hygiene after meals along with handcreams and colognes. A small nice place where to have a lunch/dinner by Lake Como.
This restaurant was about 3 minutes from the Hilton Hotel where we were staying, however, it took us quite a long time to find it. We had passed it but found the door locked. Once we were assured by people who had their phone GPS that we were here , there is a bell that you ring to get inside. There is only seating for about 20 people. The restaurant is very quaint. We started off with some Prosecco and then a lovely salmon pate. The meals we all had were very delicious (as were the desserts). Would definitely recommend this restaurant, but be sure to make reservations.
Truly great food in a nice location near the Lake. The restaurant itself (one room! is not particularly classy, and could really improve with a couple of changes. But what matter is food, and food was great!!
Have been confused by how good the reviews have been, it was ok, and disappointing in parts. All the good parts: excellent, polite service. Wine was great. Ordered the beef tartare with vinaigrette, but either they forgot to put in the vinaigrette or it was imperceptible, so the beef was bland and tasteless. My wife ordered the lamb chops, and it was cooked perfectly. But they were tiny, and there were 4 pieces, with little on the side. My wife is not a big eater, but she was still unsatisfied by the portions. I ordered the fried fish with mixed vegetables. There was no fish. I mean zero fish. There was fried squid, and fried prawns on my plate. However they were cooked very well and tasted great. As for the mixed vegetables? There was fried zucchini, but no other vegetables. (It also was cooked very well, the batter was great). Maybe there was something lost in translation between the English menu and the Italian one? All in all, I feel like we got tricked somehow, maybe they don't care for tourists and treat locals differently? Or maybe it changed hands more recently? Not sure. But I don't understand how we got such a different experience with others here, which maybe it means different customers are treated differently. I hope we were wrong.
