The Bay - Coles Bay

The food is excessively salty, and the staff is not very attentive.

Upon arriving, I found Freycinet Lodge to be quite charming. The reception area and restaurant are lovely, although Richardson’s Bistro is clearly not on the same level of sophistication. However, this is to be expected for a bistro! The staff were friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Angus Beef burger, which unfortunately lacked flavor and relish, aside from the caramelized onion. It could definitely use a little more zest—thankfully, the aioli for the chips helped enhance the taste! The view was beautiful, and overall, it was a pleasant experience.

The Bay Restaurant at Freycinet Lodge on Tasmania's east coast has recently undergone a makeover. In addition to its breathtaking views, friendly staff, and a cozy open fire, the food is of exceptional quality. I recommend trying the gnocchi appetizer; it’s delightful. The steak was also superb. Don’t forget to ask Jack, the bartender, for an amazing Cosmopolitan cocktail.

Had the seafood platter to share and a couple of beers with my partner. Service was mediocre stood at the counter to be seated for a good 10 minutes. Seafood tasted fresh, great value for money but lacked that 'spark '.

Don't know why this has the rating it does. Only people in the restaurant and our seafood platter and oysters (hardly any preparation time) took 40minutes to arrive. On getting our meal we were told that cutlery was over by the window...busy were you? With the other 2 customers and 5 staff? Now to the food...hands down worst oysters we've had in Tassie! Shrivelled and tiny. Bacon used for the Kilpatrick was horrible quality and they had the gall to charge us $3.50 each. No courtesy check or offer to refill drinks. Safe to say we won't be coming back; such a shame as they have an amazing location. Complacency at its finest and it's only lack of competition bringing people in the door.
