My husband and I tried their gluten-free beer battered Haddock, we agreed it was quite simply the best fish and chips we ever had. Owners were the nicest people, super friendly, it was quite simply a lovely experience. We paired are food with gluten free beer from Lucky pigeon in Biddeford. Delicious ?
Lovely experience with the food at Paddy Wagon. Curry fries are thick cut and crispy. Lots of great potatoes flavor and hold up well with the curry sauce. Could maybe have used some salt which they do provide but I was too busy eating it with my fingers to realize it was in the packet. I also tried the chip butty, (but in my head why, o freaking why did I order two French fry dishes? I should have ordered the fishwich! It was good and tasty experience. Highly recommend
I am very tight with 5 star reviews. I admit this. I have been to this wagon several times now and when I heard an honest to goodness REAL chipbuddy was being served in my town, I darn near lost my flippin mind. I am a devout Anglophile. I own that. I grew up here in Portland, which makes a low key seafood snob. I own that too. I worked at Haggerty 's Brit-Indi take away, so the food passion runs long and deep in me. For the record, I believe a chipbuddy will cure anything you caused yourself the night before. If not, the aioli they make certainly will! Ask and you can have a side of it with any other order. The aioli is *not* the same as the curry sauce you get on the chips (fries) and that is a good/normal thing. That said, the curry is also a thing unto itself which deserves respect. English curry is not the same as Indian curry because it has it 's own evolution from those who ended up in the UK via whatever means. An English curry has it 's own merits to appreciate and this one is it for me. On the fried fish...drool. Bring a bib and a mop. Good places use fresh catch and here in Portland there 's not really a reason to use anything else. You can legit taste it when the investment is made in the ingredients. Next is the fry and the batter. Here we discuss art forms. Good fish fry is not heavy or thick. It hugs the food but also lets go when you bite, because *fresh fish* will flake into nothing when properly cooked. That is the ONLY experience I have had eating fish from this truck. Can the fish without a bun seem oily? Yes, in fairness, but that 's fried food. The buns they use are a delightful and delicious item on their own and the fishwhich was equally grand. It did indeed solve that minor oil issue. On the chips...it is fair to believe that if the more challenging food (fish) is done so expertly, the chips/fries should be blissful really. They are. I assume these are double fried, which the best usually are. Crispy exterior, fluffy insides, healthy portion to join the fairly big fish and you can have them naked or with the above named sauces. I haven 't even had the full menu yet (I absolutely will end up doing so) but if you happen to be a vegetarian and just want a snack and drink, please get the Arnold Palmer. This beverage is so delicious, so refreshing, so insane...I flatly said out loud to my wife Holy Hannah...Americans are served dog mess in comparison! I 've said it before, but sweet holy...wth...I will never share this fyi. I am putting back one of these every time we go to this truck from here forward. You have been told.
Absolutely the best fish chips I've ever had. Best thing is, everything they have can be made gluten-free! I love finally being able to eat delicious gluten-free food.
