Brass Monkey - Chicago

We went to the restaurant on its last night, without realizing it was closing. The bar was not fully stocked, some entrees were sold out, and they forgot to bring us a dessert we ordered. The food we did receive was good, except for the monkfish entree which was undercooked. It seems like they may have been experiencing some last night blues.

The beverages were excessively expensive compared to other options in the vicinity.

We really enjoyed the fondue snack and the meatballs. We miss the old seafood pasta that was on the menu. We loved the s'moree dessert!

My friends and I ate at the Brass Monkey Saturday night. The restaurant is beautiful...love the 70's flair! The food was very good. However the noise level was unbearable. The restaurant and bar are one huge room with high ceilings. There is no barrier between the bar (1/2 of the space) and the restaurant (the other 1/2 of the space). In my opinion there needs to be some sort of sound barrier to manage the level of noise. Between the awesome music (very very hard to hear I might add) and everyone talking it was really really hard to hear the people I was with. That is not cool. Too bad tho...I think it could be great with some sound barrier tweaking. Unfortunately, in the mean time, I won't return and would not recommend it to anyone.

The food was good, but the waitress kept trying to push meat/expensive options on my friend and me who do not like meat too much. It was pretty annoying to say the least. Also we were not drinking and she kept trying to push drinks as well.
