This cozy little pub offers a nice variety of beers and is perfect for catching a game. It's not too crowded or loud, and the staff is friendly as well.

The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The steak pie was filled with tender steak, but the pastry was unfortunately soggy. My son's chicken burger was satisfactory, but my husband found his gammon to be overcooked. The peas and salad that came with the meals were fine. The homemade twice-cooked chips, which I had been looking forward to, were not crisp and lacked flavor. Despite these disappointments, the food was served piping hot, and my pie was accompanied by plenty of tasty gravy. I managed to finish my meal, but it could have been fantastic with a crisper pastry and better chips. The highlight of the pub was the barmaid, who was friendly and efficient. She managed to handle the bar by herself, while also serving food and clearing tables with good humor, even though it was her birthday. Her exceptional service made our experience more enjoyable. Overall, the meals were hearty and filling, but with some improvements, they could be excellent.

We recently had an impromptu team meeting with a colleague who was visiting Chesterfield. Due to the current pandemic, we had not physically met before. The restaurant wasn't very busy, but we received a lovely welcome, enjoyed nice food, and had some good coffee. We may make this a regular spot for future meetings.

It was a busy day due to Chesterfield 1940,s Day Market but was So efficient and rushed off their feet but brilliant ....will visit again
