The Clay Pigeon Pub - Chelmsford

I had a great day on the river in the sunshine going along on one of the boatsWe also got a 3 course lunch as part of the experience.

My friends Steve, Terry and I decided to spend a day floating down the Thames and go to Richmond and just enjoy the summer day.

Despite the lackluster ambiance, the food exceeded our expectations. We ordered nachos for a starter and were pleasantly surprised by the generous portion size and delicious flavor. The mains were also outstanding and the prices were reasonable. The food here definitely leans more towards a gastro pub experience rather than standard pub fare. I can't wait to return and try more dishes from the menu, and I hope that the atmosphere improves next time. It would be a shame to miss out on such great food due to the subpar ambiance.

We have visited the Clay Pigeon for a Sunday Roast, and In our opinion it is a hidden gem on the Tile Kiln Estate. The Sunday roast is outstanding quality and quantity. We recommend that you try out the food, and support our local community pub. The service is good, and Andy and Kate are very welcoming as are the staff.

Went there for lunch and had the Tex mex burger and the other half got the ribs and we were surprised at how big the portions were. Food tasted great. Service was pleasant and friendly. Would definitely recommend to give it a try if you are in the area.
