The Purple Daisy Picnic Cafe

Positively the best Cafe in Chattanooga. Visited 3 out of 5 days. Service was awesome. Lunch and Dinner was terrific. The ribs were fall off the bone and so delicious. So glad it was recommended to us. Will definitely stop in every time we are traveling near or not so near Chattanooga.

Great food, very attentive staff, quiet and out of the way feel. I’ll be back.

Ahh I hate to say this but I am shocked at the great reviews for this place. Maybe my BBQ expectations are just too high for being in the South, but this was just not…great… We come from a state absolutely not known for any sort of BBQ, and we’ve had several better BBQs than this. There is no beef on the menu, so we ordered the pulled pork and chicken. The chicken seemed like lightly smoked Costco precooked chicken breast strips… the pork was just fine. Also nothing was hot, just hardly warmer than room temperature. The coleslaw tasted like chemical cleaner. The only thing saving this place was the hash brown casserole which was very good. Texas toast was good but only toasted on one side. Our water was 9% ice cubes (no reason for this). We also had both the banana pudding and the Alabama dirt both were ok. Alabama dirt was half frozen for some reason, and the banana pudding was unusually crunchy and insanely sweet. Service was very kind and friendly. The prices were reasonable for BBQ and maybe it reflects the quality a bit. The atmosphere is a little strange. Obviously they were going for a certain purpley cute aesthetic but it comes off a little tacky and juvenile. I wish we enjoyed it but unfortunately I cannot recommend at all.

Cute little place for BBQ and many other types of sandwiches. Service is always fantastic and prices are very reasonable.

My son and his family live on Lookout Mountain. After driving almost 6 hours to visit them, I typically stop at the Purple Daisy to get a Rainbow Sandwich to enjoy driving up the mountain, and when leaving a week or so later, get another Rainbow Sandwich for the drive home. I very much look forward to this delicious delicacy every time we visit.
