Bara Piato - Chania

The staff at the restaurant was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about vegan options. We enjoyed a delicious dinner with two unique starters and a vegan gyro dish. They offered a separate menu specifically for vegans and vegetarians. The food was well-prepared, but I was slightly disappointed by the vegan gyro, as I was expecting a dish with aubergine, mushrooms, and tomato sauce, similar to the flavor profiles of the falafels we had as an appetizer.

The outdoor seating at the restaurant was quite charming with a pergola overhead. I tried the vegan gyros which was delicious, but it came with chips and pita bread, and there was quite a bit of foam on the plate! I was expecting something different when I read that they were fungi gyros, possibly with mushrooms, but it was still tasty. There were a variety of other options on the menu, so I wish I had explored those instead. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable about vegan dining options, and even gave us complimentary sorbet and ice cream.

This cozy restaurant located on a quiet corner street has a separate menu for vegetarian and vegan options. We tried the vegan gyro and heavenly salad for lunch, which were satisfying in portion size and enjoyable to eat, though not outstanding. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting.

Although it was outside the season and most restaurants have only a few options, they had at least 2 vegan meals.

The owners where super friendly and veganized an omnivore starter for us which was super delicious as well as the vegan Gyros which was made out of mushrooms.
