Contribuiți la feedbackWe could not dream for a better romantic evening: a warm welcome, a cozy atmosphere, smile, a deep kindness. Thanks to Caroline Mioche and her team, Dominique, Nicolas, Fabrice... for creating this unforgettable moment. It was more than a decade since I was so happy to take the woman I love such a beautiful place. The food was exquisite, the service impeccable and my partner unbelievably raised.
All in all a disappointing experience! Only one course of the menu tasted like a Michelin star dish; the starter tasted like gurke, but the fish contained seemed not present (why this heavy knife for a foamy dish? and the dessert... was mainly cream with a band of sugar outside dissatisfied and partly unfriendly service (not even wondering if the dish tasted well but often makes noise when the dishes unsuitable recommendation from the sommelier (good: took the bottle back after complaining). In summary, no food was the service we experienced in other Michelin-star restaurants
Expected great things from Hotel Radio restaurant but was badly disappointed. The dining room is very pleasant; well lit; comfortable and noise levels were OK even on a busy Monday evening. Staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. Took the 6 course tasting menu which ends...up as 8 or so with the amuses bouches. These were very nice.... The first starter of foie gras pressé with lots of citricy gels/purées was very nice. The next course, scallops with beetroot only tasted of beetroot of different textures and tastes some just cooked; some highly acidic...overall it ruined the scallops which disappeared into the background. The next course fish, St Pierre was not nice either. The fish was overcooked and had a rather anaemic colour tasted as though it had been kept warm on the pass for too long. The accompanying sauce and the tartare of seaweed were over flavoured (lemon) and very salty. Overall, not a nice dish although the accompanying little tart of quinoa cooked in squid ink was very tasty. The meat course was slow cooked veal sous vide I would guess with some crispy veal sweetbreads. The veal was OK but the taste again spoiled by a thickened gloopy sauce and celery everywhere confit with the sweetbreads and a puree with the veal.... The desserts were nice... and very pretty. Excellent cheese board. Sad. Having eaten in hundreds of Michelin starred restaurants around the world, this one just doesn 't add up on the food front.
If you like 1930s architecture, this is the place for you a must! The entrance foyer with its art deco door and staircase are the perfect introduction. The building has been lovingly restored and is very comfortable. The lift is a little small but...it would not be easy to enlarge and anyway, it too is an original. Our room was on the second floor and was spacious and bright with a fantastic view over the Clermont Ferrand. The plumbing in the bathroom was eccentric the tap on the sink did not seem to be attached to anything except the water supply and the shower (which worked well) made a noise as though the fire alarm had gone off! In such a large room, it would have been nice to have two arm chairs rather than just one. There were no shutters at the window which is fine but the curtains were definitely not 'black out ' so the light flooded in at dawn. The staff were very helpful and understanding when we had to cancel our dinner reservation due to illness. This was a great shame as the Michelin starred restaurant was the reason for choosing this hotel but we were just not well enough to appreciate it. Another time... Breakfast was good and served in the art deco style restaurant so we did experience that, at least. There was wonderful fresh squeezed orange juice and a generous buffet. There is a good car park although not big enough for the cars of all the guests. Nearby pavements seemed to provide the overspill. We left the car park in the car park for our two nights and bought a 24 hour bus ticket (4.90 euros) from a machine at a bus stop which made popping into Clermont very easy (ten minutes to the centre with a regular bus service (B). We were here 8th and 9th June 2018.
Excellent welcome, excellent food and staff, it cannot fail at all, beautiful building beautiful evening, would highly recommend for this particular occasion.
