It 's a pie with some chicken and leek and mushroom. Poorly cooked from frozen. Unless they forgot to serve the chicken that day? So in summary food is terrible (safe choice: cheese board, nothing can go wrong there, it was decent and the best dish we had) but the location is very very nice, and relatively quiet, which is definitely on the plus side.
We were going to the New Year's Eve lunch at BM with some shyness. There were a lot of visitors and customers. A table was found for us very quickly. The menu is not extensive but it's easy to choose something for yourself. The service is quick and kind. The kitchen delivers the order quickly. Everything beautifully presented and tasty. To be honest, we left the restaurant fully satisfied and full. Thank you for a wonderful meal and we wish the chefs and staff a Happy New Year.
The hostess was far from friendly, luckily the waitresses were nice. We were told the only option is the afternoon tea when we arrived, while other guests arriving after us got to order form the menu. Our guess is that the hostess wanted us to decide to not come in because we were with a baby, but we cannot be sure of course. We agreed to the afternoon tea, but that was very disappointing as well. The only lovely thing on it was the scones. The sandwiches were very dry, like bread you leave out for a day or two and were not especially tasty either. The cakes lacked any particular flavour beside being sweet and they brought out the 4 teas in 2 tea cans that had 2 and 2 filters in each... Not too elegant after ordering 4. It has potential to being nice, but it has to improve.
Wanted something more than a sandwich so tried the restaurant at the British Museum. Was greeted courteously but then had to wait for a waitress to take my order, eventually the person who told me to wait for the waitress took my order; things seemed a bit unsure , they weren 't busy yet movement was slow. Ordered the traditional Fish and Chips with a home-made lemonade drink which was great . A couple of ladies seated nearby sent their Fish and Chips quite popular) back complaining that it was nice but cold. Maybe this was an off-key kind of day for the restaurant but I would go again, just to make sure and give them a 5 review.
Had the afternoon tea here with my 6 year old son. The lady in charge was amazing! I had emailed the evening nieces and she had organised a table for us and a special tea with different sandwiches as he is really fussy. Food was great and enough for two to share with left overs. He also loved the fresh lemonade. Highly recommend
