Contribuiți la feedbackNom nom nom nom nom!!!!! I was a happy gal after casual date night dinner here last Friday I can tell you that! Went with my boyfriend after work because he's been telling me for months that this is a delicious place with the best BBQ in the area. I read the reviews and wanted to try it instantly because it sounds like it has a homestyle atmosphere and is family run. We arrived around 7:20 on Friday night after checking the website that says they close at 8pm and all tables need to be seated at least 30 minutes prior to close. At first they said they weren't open for dine in anymore but I must've looked sufficiently sad for the gal to say we could have a seat since we were technically there in time but that she generally just goes by how busy they are on Fridays. OK so the menu has tons of items but they were out of the Korean food portion my boyfriend wanted that but he managed to be OK with ribs and brisket. lol. He wanted this huge meal that has all kinds of meat and ribs and such but you have to order that at least an hour before close so he couldn't get that either. Moral of the story is if you really wanna enjoy all they have to offer for dine in you need to arrive at least a couple hours before they say they close for the day... since it's small town. They have a large menu and a lot of side options the sweet tea was delicious as well as the pulled pork, slaw, baked beans and sweet potato casserole (since that's exactly what I ate lol . The inside was homey and clean, the waitress (who is the baker? was very cute and friendly. There was only one other family inside with kids when we arrived and by the time we finished just at around 8pm we were the last ones inside. It was a nice quiet date night and the next time my dad is in town I'll be bringing him here, he would love it. Plus I saw about 5 other things I want to try.
We come often and every visit we come away with a different story of the experience. Tonight we had an education about how Korean food should be eaten. I've read the other reviews regarding the service but believe me this is part of the whole meal experience. Remember the episodes of Seinfeld and the soup bar?? And yes the food is good. What other place can you find this kind of variety. Sometimes you feel like a burger and sometimes you might feel like Bulgogi. In Carrolton! And did I mention the pumpkin cheesecake fantastic! PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE ! So prepare to have some fun and enjoy the food. You will never find another experience like this one. And YES don't walk in the door 26 minutes before closing and expect to be served.
If you love Korean food, this place is a hidden gem. Many times Korean restaurants water down the spicy pork boolgogi. This pork boolgogi is SPICY and delicious. The kimchee is delicious, not rushed. I 'm half Korean and this will be my go to spot from here out. Wonderful. I can 't wait to try the BBQ specials as well. The menu is varied and they homemade desserts as well.
What happens when you eat at a Korean butcher's barbecue restaurant full of amazing food and smells and run by the actual family themselves...magic! Our waitress was the butcher's daughter, and she was the perfect combination of low key and personal, hilariously funny, and just super informative on every dish we were considering to order! It helped a lot since there are a lot of options to choose from! Loving the menus all perfectly spread out under the glass table top! We started off with their Yaki Mondoo (Korean Egg Rolls which were quite good and came with a yummy homemade, yet intensely salty, soy sauce. They were filled with ground beef and pork and a bit of veggies for good measure : . The outside was nice and crispy, lacking any grease that typically comes with a regular egg roll. And the inside was just as great, chalk full of great flavors! Everything sounded so good on the menu, that we decided to just share our entrees so that we we could partake in as much as we could of Jeb's delicious options! We loved the beef brisket philly as well as the loaded baked potato topped with barbecue chicken! Had we had room for dessert, I am guessing we would have loved that as well! The decor is plain and simple, but the food itself is complex and full of great tastes and flavors! You can tell they prepare their meats with the time and care it needs to pull forth the best flavors out of them! I had probably past this place in the past while in the area without realizing what I was missing, but now that I know what's lies within...I won't make that mistake again! In fact I will be coming back for more, and bringing my friends and family while I'm at it!
Look, the food is good. The BBQ is smoky, tangy, and rich. The sweet potato casserole is delicious, but the potato salad and corn muffins were eh. But the SERVICE. Good Lord the service was terrible. The waitress was rude and literally interrupted our private conversation to yell No more potatoes! The rules are bizarre (2 baked potatoes per table, order 30 minutes prior to closing). I still don 't understand why they don 't just close a half hour earlier... They were out of many of the menu items, and as I mentioned the waitress was intrusive at best.
