When we rented The Force 146 back in February it said the house came with one golf cart. After reserving I received instructions that I still had to reserve the golf cart. I did that and was charged $213.00. Days later I received an email with a promo code to enter so I wouldn’t ve charged. After several days of calling and not getting a human I finally got a hold of “Dee”. She was very nice and as helpful as she could be but told me she was sending my info to Lamar so he could refund me. I never heard from Lamar. I emailed 3 addresses I had and no one ever responded. The day of check in I met Dee in person and reminded her about my situation. She told me to talk to Nancy went we got to the island. I did that, Nancy gave me her cell number but said Lamar would take care of the refund and if he didn’t to reach out to her. He of course was useless. So when we got to the house I texted her and she told me I would have my refund Monday. After not getting my refund I texted her on Tuesday only to find they charged me an additional $300! She claimed it was a problem with the “payment terminal company” and shes trying to fix it. That was the last time I ever heard from her. At this point they are thieves. Aside from that, the golf cart was ****. Barely charged. We stayed stranded twice returning from dinner and had to push it ourselves all the way to the house. The house was falling apart. From broken cabinets, to broken closet doors, massive wet spots on the ceiling. We had no detergent even though they said we had to wash all towels before checking out. They only gave us 2 paper towel rolls for 8 people staying for 5 days! There were no cleaning supplies. Luckily I had bought a small pack of clorox wipes from the dollar store. They only gave us one key. When I asked if they could give us the code for the lock so the 8 guests could come go without fear of losing the 1 key, they gave an excuse and said they would get back to us and never did. Almost forgot that the day we checked in at 2pm the cleaning people were still there. They had linens hanging all over the pool area and blamed the prior guests as to why they were running late. They also lost one of our luggage pieces. No one had any idea where it was. We eventually found it ourselves outside with no label. Side note: while we were looking for the luggage, we were harassed by one of the workers with gold teeth who proceeded to tell us he was the “night island stripper named Chocolate Drop”. I wish I was joking. What’s sad is that we convinced the rest of the group to come on this vacation because we loved it so much 8 years ago. Everyone worked hard to save for this trip to be let down. I have never seen such negligente customer service. The worst part is that the island itself is a natural wonder with some of the best FL beaches and they are ruining it. I don’t think we will ever be back.
Great family boating stop. Pull up.on your boat, parking, eat, swim.. I had the crab burrito ? with fries today. The fries were really good. The burrito was so-so. Fun place. Recommended.
Shelia is an amazing bartender! her and dan know definitiw what they do, the drinks were on the point and the service was excellent!
We arrived at the table, and they told us to wait for a server— no one came. 15 minutes in we went to the bar asking to be served, twice, and they finally took our order. While the coconut shrimp appetizer was admittedly fresh and delicious 3/4 of the drinks were borderline virgin. For the main course, they served my burger I asked to be medium rare as thoroughly cooked, the sautéed mushrooms topping were practically raw, the onion rings were stale and they forgot my father’s entire dish TWICE. They admitted they wrote it down, but forgot to send it to the kitchen and the second time they said that the kitchen forgot the order. They then forgot my second drink for 15 minutes until the waiter came back and asked “uh, you ordered a piña colada right?” And no they were NOT overwhelmed— half the seats are empty. I’d give it a 1 but the coconut shrimp and piña colada were admittedly delicious. Customer take note.
Big shout out to Duncan, Laurie and their entire staff! We had an amazing vacation in the Dreamcatcher house last week and everyone at Tortuga made the entire trip stress free and were very responsive and professional with every request, need and inquiry. They all work very hard to be sure that their guests want for nothing and have a memorable time on the island. Thank you for providing excellent service and communication during our stay on North Captiva! Best Mark
