The railway line between Livorno San Marco and the Leopolda Station of Pisa was active since the first half of the nineteenth century. In 1867 Rome was joined to Livorno, with a track that served Collesalvetti; a few years later, when Collesalvetti was joined directly to Pisa, the city of Labronica was found in fact excluded from the main line, until, in 1910, the direct coastal connection between Cecina and Livorno was not completed. The inauguration of the Livorno Centrale station took place on 3 July 1910, a few days after the completion of the works of the above-mentioned railway route. King Vittorio Emanuele participated in the ceremony, but the press of time highlighted the absence of the representatives of Pisa, who were opposed to the insertion of Livorno along the national director.
Livorno Station, renovated and improved over time
Like all stations: very neglected and dirty. Unfortunately, maintenance costs are high... and the incivilization of people makes this station degraded.
Everything wonderful, very clean, beautiful building, even the café is priceless within the frame.
More and more abandoned, it needs a new boost, with all the tourists there are thanks to the port, the offer is very poor. It also applies to the city.
