Stoney's Grill - Canmore

Awesome views of a well manicured and fairly difficult golf course.Your ball will always run to one side! A cart is advisable.Server was most friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed TWO orders of thevegetable spring rolls, with a maple and ginger dipping sauce.Bison burger was delicious ---We split it in two. Wines by the glass---6 and 9 oz.pours. Nice ambiance. A great apres golf location.Recommended.

The owner of the B&B where we are staying recommended this restaurant. We were looking for an Alberta steak and didn't want to pay $75 for it. We were seated on the patio overlooking the 18th green of the Silvertip Golf Course. The view of the mountains in the distance was stunning.We both ordered the 5 oz. filet which came with roasted potatoes and a bowl of veggies. The steak was outstanding and perfectly cooked.The waitstaff was efficient and very friendly.For a good steak that won't cost you a bundle of money, go to Stoney's.

We decided to opt out of the steakhouse and went to Stoneys patio instead. We did have to ask a few times to get the more elaborate menu from inside. Otherwise we might have been stuck with bar food. The wine was expensive, the steak was not amazing. But decent. The sticker shock of the price of the 9oz pinot gris was offset by the sunny evening overlooking the course and mountain side.I don't know if the food was by any means memorable, but I would return for drinks and appies anytime. Love it here.I wouldn't order the filet minion again. Wasn't terrible but not delicious.The charcuterie platter was good. The jam was excellent. Meat selection was good. The crackers looked like Ritz crackers from the box. That was bizzare to me. Olives were tasty.There was a wedding in the banquet hall right next door and at 830pm the people started coming out on to the patio. So plan for that to happen. It gets louder and less peaceful with the DJ playing music. The heaters were not operational, so we asked for blankets which saved the day too. It got cold when the sun went down.

7/3/17 Great outside seating area with a fantastic view of two fairways on the course. The food was brought out promptly as were the drinks. Even so, the service staff seemed a little rusty or inexperienced. Not a drawback though. The 3 Jar dessert tray was the best.

We were referred to the Country Club restaurant for dinner - but upon arrival, it looked to fancy for our dress so we went to the Bar and Grill. We lucked out because there was no one there so we had the full attention of the server, so it would be difficult to assess the service. BUT, good menu, good beer and good wine for the wife. Place was clean and the service from the bartender/server very friendly. I had the daily meat special which was like a Elk short rib - very good. Wife had chicken which likewise was very good and juicy, not dried out. If you are looking for something maybe just a tad bit upscale from Bar food in a Bar and Grill setting this is it. Would certainly recommend this place for what it is. Thanks Stoney's.
