Betti Bravo's - Canberra

The atmosphere of this place is pretty awesome. Great outside seating and perfect for those warm Canberra evenings. Didn't eat but the drinks were nice. A jug of white sangria ($29) with friends went too quickly. The service was excellent. Menu looked interesting so I'll be back to try it out soon. Great addition to the Kingston Foreshore.

We booked into Betti's on a Saturday night after a previous walk by, we though it looked quite nice as did the menu. When we arrived one of the two waitresses that were working on a Saturday night informed us that they only had bar tables available, which isn't acceptable when we booked well in advance. The Waitress ended up finding a normal table for us, so that was all good. She brought us over the menu's (Food and Drink) We were then left waiting for upwards of 20 minutes before she came back over to take our order. The drink I ordered was the Endless apple cider from Vic and the bar sent out a Bartlow cider. I'm not particularly a cider connoisseur, but one is more Boutique and the other not so much. My wife also ordered a cocktail, which contained about 2 mouthfulls for a steep $19. The food came out quite quickly, it's Tapas style dining so the food came out at different times. Our first tapas was a chorizo and potato tortilla, we thought we were brought the wrong dish as this one looked like a microwaved quiche. Our other dish was Octopus with potatoes, this was in eatable. It was so chewy that we couldn't even get through a small piece. Once we had finished eating, we waited 10 minutes for the waitress to come and take our plates hoping to be offered a menu for dessert. No one came over to see us, and it was clear that we had finished our main meals. It took another 15 minutes for anyone to come over and that was only because we stood up, ready to leave. Overall I would sum this place up by the following: overpriced, poor service, confusing menu and appalling food. I wish restaurants would realise that their best asset is their staff and their chef- so many get it wrong, and that's why there are so many empty seats on a Saturday night. On a more positive note, if you want to see good service, walk down the road to Movenpick ice cream, the guy who works there is excellent.

Nice location and friendly staff. Food was good and the trivia night we stumbled in on was a lot of fun. All in all, a nice and simple spot.

Great atmosphere and a very attractive looking place with pops of colour and fake green grass at the front. I came here in a group of 8 for dinner. Was not provided menus (had to ask). No one came to take our order (had to ask to order). Waited over 1 hour for all the food to arrive at our table. Sadly all the meals came out at different times so we weren't able to eat together. I had green beans and cured king fish and shared a chicken paella. Green beans were ok. Cured king fish didn't taste fresh and too much ricotta spread was used, overpowering the fish. Chicken paella was decent but everything taste great when you are hungry. Sadly, the others that I was dining with were not impressed as their chicken dish was raw. Staff handled this well and provided attentive service following this incident however, uncooked chicken is not on! Won't be back in a hurry.

I came here as part of a group of 9 people. The 4 banquets we ordered took some time to come. The vegetarian food choices are very limited to just chips, some small plates and salad. In addition, the portions of the vegetarian plates are small. The banquet food was not particularly flavourful with the octopus being chewy and hard to eat. The plantain chips were decent but the accompanying guacamole was nothing special. The Aji Blanco with carrots was great & delicious - a standout. The corn with parmesan cheese was also good. We were also misinformed about the price of adding an extra piece of corn to the dish and only realised when the bill came. The location is nice but the issues we had with flavour, quantity, vegetarian options and the wait times means that there's a low chance that we will come back.
