I was unchallenged by any one but decided it would be good to try it. The evening came and again we walked through having to shout Ola to attract some attention. Any way we were seated and selected salads to start all good so far. Lamb tagine for our main course was a different matter. 2 of our party had lamb shank lots of meat, in a smallish portion. The other 2 had neck of lamb very fatty again a smallish portion. They were tasty but All of the meals were tepid not warm. We did not have dessert. There was only 1 member of staff serving and he was not present all of the time. Wouldn’t dash back there.
I read the reviews in TA earlier in the day and we stumbled upon Mama Aicha’s on our way back from Dali’s house. We would have brought wine if we knew we were eating here. The atmosphere was very nice. The restaurant is colorfully decorated. The service was terrific. One young man took care of everyone and did a great job. Ok, now the food. We had a great vegetable tajin (vegan), house salad and cucumber salad. We also order a chicken tajin. It was just “brown” flavored, my husband thought maybe they forgot the Moroccan spices. The chicken was full of bones and there was not much meat. My daughter ordered the dorada tajin. This should not be confused with “doradO”. Dorado is mahi mahi. Dorada is a tiny fish that looks like it should have been thrown back. There were 2 on the plate including the heads and tails and all the bones in between. The sauce was really good but the fish was not edible.
After discovering the place we had to go back as soon as we could. which made us eat here twice in less than 12 hours. cous cous, tajine, salads and starters were outstanding. all the food is freshly home made in a one lady kitchen. hospitality and quality of food that is rarely seen in europe. the food, hospitable and humble atmosphere brought us right into the vibrant and flaverful world of morrocco. we will come again and would recommend everyone that likes home made, flaverful and love-packed foods, to visit mama aicha in cadaques. the tea, by the way, was also authentic moroccan style and amazing.
