Rockpool Grill Perth - BURSWOOD

With our hospitality backgrounds/experience and having worked all over Australia and no longer living remote, Rockpool has been on our list for quite some time. Well, we were bitterly disappointed! 795 Later... We frequent Crown often and have spent a lot of money over the years and always enjoyed every aspect that the complex has to offer. However, the food at Rockpool was less than average. First up they mispelled our name and told us we didn't have a booking, eventually sorted and seated, our lovely french waitress 100% professional. Entree Bread Butter ok Kingfish Standout Dish! Calamari Nice Rock Lobster absolutely no way 500g! Wagu 9+ (Apparently) 295 was by far the worst steak we have ever eaten, had better steaks at Junction Grill for a fraction of the price, maybe those chefs can help out in Rockpool? Horseradish on side was overpowered by garlic so... What didn't help was the young chef on grill charring off all steaks, constantly turning them on the grill and keeping them in bains above the grill to dry out then reheat and constantly turn before serving. He almost appeared bored and kept looking busy, constantly sealing off steaks that were not even on order. Also this imparticular chef and his offsider's aggorant attitude to what seemed to be a newby was hard to watch and she was trying her best at the pass when told what to do, however was shut down rudley several times so I would be surprised if she is still there. Sides Pumpkin not very charred at all, lacking flavour and average at best. We only had a small lemon tart for dessert, and the fridge y taste was disappointing also, not fresh. We unfortunately won't be returning and spending ourwell earnedd dollars elsewhere in the complex. We aired our concerns to 2 waitstaff and were told they would pass on feedback we certainly thought after showing them how dry the steak was and overcooked being asked for medium that we wouldn't be billed for it, however 795 later we will not return to this restaurant. Great that we get those dollars as points on our Gold Crown Rewards Car. However, the spentwase not worth it. Bottle of Great Southern Cullen Wine Delish! Dined this evening, food wine and service was lovely. Jene our server was fantastic. We had $200 in crown vouchers to use towards dinner. It was a complete debacle to use them despite them well and truely being valid. More than 30 mins of going back and forward out to the hotel office to try to get the transfered and fixed so we could use them. Absolutely unacceptable for a restaurant of this level and a $430 dollar dinner bill for 2 diners. Embarrassing for crown and for us. After having a lovely dinner this debacle left us pretty disappointed. We had a family dinner at Rockpool for Christmas Eve, and was a bit unsure of what to expect considering what has been said on Google Reviews, but I was honestly blown away by how good the food and service were. It was so good to have professional table service. Something that isn't common in Perth. Yes it can be pricey depending on what is ordered, but I found it to well worth it for special occasions.
