Contribuiți la feedbackKi Cafe might very well be the most charming cafe in Burnaby or even Greater Vancouver. Our daughter was certainly charmed by it. Mostly because of the Manga! There are several large shelves against the wall in this cafe, filled with Manga books. Our daughter is going through a bit of a Manga phase right now so she was quite taken with the Manga shelves and really wants to come back to this place again. On to the main event though. The dessert, because this place is a dessert cafe. You can get a wide variety of desserts here. Cake, cheese tarts, waffles and bubble teas are amongst the many treats they offer. If you're not in the mood for sweets, they do also have a few savoury items on their menu including Omurice and Karaage Don.Ki Cafe is currently participating in the Vancouver Ice Cream Festival. While our daughter ordered a Melona Ice drink, I decided to try the Vancouver Ice Cream Festival offering: Purple U Parfait. It's a gorgeous twist of Matcha soft serve with Ube soft serve. The two flavors were so beautifully intertwined with each other, and I loved all the wonderful toppings that came with it.Our Manga loving daughter is eager to come back here for the Manga, and I'm just as eager to go back for their yummy desserts!Service: GoodParking: Free parking on the streetLocation: #105-6888 Royal Oak Ave., Burnaby, BC
The brown sugar milk slush and galaxy both tasted pretty good but I would avoid the matcha parfait. It was extremely bitter and a lot smaller than expected, definitely not for the general audience. A big miss was the no WiFi because of the strange no studying policy… what? The decor was amazing but the manga selection was quite old overall so I did not find anything I wanted to read. With the lack of WiFi the cafe discouraged doing anything else. There was no big detailed menu for some reason and people had to line up just to view the tiny menu screen and then order. Because of the lack of WiFi I couldn’t even search up their menu. This made the wait time unnecessarily longer
A bit disappointed by their demiglace omurice. I’m so sad too because I was so excited to try this place out. The photo made it look so good. But That is NOT a demiglace sauce. It’s very watery and lack the flavour of what a true demiglace is like. I was so excited to come by was met with disappointment. The rice was unfortunately also very bland. The egg texture was pretty good. The comic wall is cute but the comics are on the older side. No new series like demon slayer jujutsu or chainsaw man.Unfortunately, it means I won’t be back. Cute looking cafe though.
Loved the food and tea I got! Amazing atmosphere and was nice to read manga and chill while waiting for my order.Be warned that this place is quite small and can get really crowded! My friend and I waited for a while before getting our food, and were lucky to get a table but a lot of folks were kept standing in line or had to leave with lack of seating.
I've visited this restaurant a few times and I have enjoyed their delicious drinks. I also tried the Mango ice cream, which was really tasty. However, I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the place. It seems like the staff does not put much effort into cleaning the tables, even when they are not busy. It felt like eating in a university cafeteria.
