We went to celebrate our grandmothers 85th birthday, our party was 5 people on a Friday at 6:45pm. The ambience was lovely, but be warned that the chairs are hard, which can be tough for elderly folks. We loved that it was long family style seating and there was plenty of room, nobody felt crowded. We started with cocktails and appetizers, which were all delicious. We ordered the Manchego cheese bread with peach preserves and the fried squash and onions. Both were delicious and the perfect amount for 5 people. Our party ordered the Wagyu chicken fried steak, pesto pasta with shrimp and the lamb. Everything was so fresh and flavorful, the only negative was the portion of lamb was surprisingly tiny. The mashed potatoes were delightfully creamy and fluffy and the green beans were al dente and we would have preferred them be a little more tender but were quite tasty. The homemade pasta was the perfect texture and the shrimp were grilled perfectly. The service was spectacular, and we neither felt rushed nor had to wait for attention. For dessert we ordered a MudSlide and Toasted Walnut dessert cocktail, and also shared the soufflé, apple pie, and peach cobbler, all of which were divine. We all had differing about which was our favorites, but all agreed that all 3 were delicious. Note that the menu changes frequently depending on what is in season and is being graven at their farm, but there are a few staples, like the chicken fried steak, which is fork tender and the best chicken fried in BCS in my opinion. Also note there are probably not gluten free, true vegetarian or dietary restricted options, so I highly recommend you check the menu before deciding to eat here if you are need of these options…this may not be the place for you. I’ve read many reviews with complaints about this, but our party does not need any of those options so it was a fabulous experience for us. It is more pricey than lots of options in BCS, but it is a farm to table experience so worth it to me!
Overall a beautiful place and wonderful customer service. Bread was great and our wine. Our entrees were the problem. Lamb over polenta it was cold and a small bowl. Chicken fried steak tough and could barely cut it. Masked potatoes were cold too. Wanted to try the fig soufflé but was afraid. I asked to speak with a manager and while I was waiting the waitress brought me $100 gift cards to cover our entrees. I was happy to see this but also asked that my feedback be shared. This is a beautiful place and wanted the meal to reflect that on a special occasion.
Overall, the atmosphere and the service are the best aspects of this restaurant. They have a great concept, and the waitress we had was super sweet and on top of everything. However, the first meal they brought me was ice cold. I got the braised lamb shank and the potatoes were flavorless and seemed like they had chance come out of the fridge. To their credit, they made me another meal. I got the pork tacos. The tacos were good, but the rice and black-eyed pea mix was also flavorless. It desperately needed some salt. Honestly, we were really looking forward to eating there, but we probably won't go back. It is just too expensive to not be awesome.
Great happy hour to meet up with friends. Highly recommend!
