Contribuiți la feedbackLa Vara is a true culinary experience and my favorite restaurant in NYC by far. We used to go for my birthday every year pre pandemic but hadn?t been in over 3 years we had high expectations and it didn?t disappoint! We ordered spiced chickpeas, 2 seafood dishes, 2 meat dishes, one vegetable dish and dessert and left stuffed even though my husband had run a half marathonthat day. 10/10, highly recommend!
Elevated Spanish tapas bistro with cozy, neighborhood-y ambiance and a lovely backyard. Everything on the menu is well through out and executed, giving the tradition Spanish dishes a slight interesting twist without overly complicating the flavors andtexture. The menu is seasonal, featuring fresh produce from local farms. Highly recommend the pine nuts and almond gazpacho withscallop crudo, the croquettes, spiced chickpeas, and the rossejat to share.
Amazingly delicious food!!! Potion sizes are small enough to order multiple dishes and try them all?. Cocktails were pretty good too!!
I had a nice evening at La Vara last evening. One of my best foodie?s memories are from Spain?s San Sebastián, at the heart of the Basque region. I was hoping for a similar, memorable experience. La Vara?s cuisine is Basques inspired. I can?t say itwas that memorable, but it was interesting. I may have to try some additional dishes there.
Once again our meal at La Vara was absolutely amazing. The chickpeas alone are worth the reservation. I rave about it all the time because they are so consistently delicious and everything is perfectly done. Last week my very discriminating friend camewith us for the first time and she was also floored by the impeccable food, presentation and service. Thank you La Vara!
