Make yourself a favor instead and go over the street to The Abbey where the service is always professional and the food never disappointed.
The look of an old style “public house / restaurant / bar” outside and inside drew us to this nice little place on Beacon Street in Brookline, and the food made us glad it did. There were indoor and outdoor seats and a mixture of families, couples and groups of students when we visited for lunch. The menu offered many options and our group had sandwiches and the macaroni and cheese. The portions were good, and Mac and cheese were boiled directly in his little skill. Friendly staff and beautiful price class will repeatedly earn visits.
Great beers, great food and great service. We'll be back soon! Betsy was the best. Happy to support a great place. Do you want to walk these gems through Covid?
3.5 stars. Due to the pandemic we got a table outside when the temperature was high 30s. They didn't have outdoor space heater/lamps. Staffs were nice and attractive. Online menu you have you scan with your mobile phone. We got the monk fries and fried calamari. The monk frites fries with truffles were burnt. The calamari deep fried had after tasted like it was used in the same oil as crispy fried fish chips. Food priced were reasonable.
Great beers. We enjoyed the Belgian style muscles and frites Moules Frites. The Monk's Frites are fantastic as well. The beers were served at appropriate European temps (not too cold but not warm) and in appropriate glassware for the types of beer. Thoroughly enjoyable pub experience!
