Chili Měi Lì - Broad Channel

Sweet Sour Ribs over greens is my favorite dish at Chili which I have enjoyed countless times. Cooked perfectly, I make three meals out of it. Perfect with white rice.

Let me start off by saying that my husband and I have eaten here in person and enjoyed it. This is the first time I've ordered take out from them and it was extremely disappointing. The food did not even taste like it was from the same place (I even went back to double check it on the map because it was so different). We ordered the dumplings in chili oil, which were hard and plastic-y and very dried out. We've had them here before and previously were delicious. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles and they sent the wrong sauce for so it ended up just tasting super salty with no peanut taste at all. The eggplant which I've had there and loved had a very different and bland taste, the garlic sauce was not at all salty enough. And we also ordered their crispy chicken which we didn't even get- they sent a pork dish instead that was also very bland and just disappointing all around. I think I'm more upset because we have been there before and this was such a poor showing from them. It was so bad that we actually ended up throwing away most of the dishes. Maybe something has changed about their chef since last time we were there or maybe they just have very poor quality take out. I recommend trying to go in person but not the take out.

One of my favorite places to eat in the city. Never ordered takeout because this place is a delight to visit in person. Attentive, fast service with excellent food and wonderful people!

The Chungking Spicy Chicken was delicious but it was REALLLLLLY spicy. I did have some trouble eating because of how hot it was. Eggplant in Garlic Sauce was delicious as well as the Sautéed String Beans. Would definitely order again.
