Ginger Baker - BRIGHT

Focuses on share plates. All were tasty but the pork and fennel meatballs led the field. Staff know their stuff and are competent and friendly. Nice wood fires scattered around to keep out the cold. All up was enjoyable. Would go back

Walked by today on the way to the Brewery, liked the look of Ginger Baker and so came back for lunch and very pleased we did.We arrived just half an hour before closing but were welcomed, 3 log fires were keeping the cafe warm despite the fact it's as near as you will get to eating outdoors in the Winter.Excellent coffees with shared plates of lamb and potatoes, friendly, efficient service and great atmosphere and good value so will return

Food was poor, fried potatoes still raw in middle, croquettes simply peculiar in taste and texture. Duck ok, but as it's all share duck shanks would be better and easier to share. The risotto was creamy but the rice still had a rawness as an uncooked out grain. Sticky wings, again very small wings in what tastes like a jar of knor cooking sauce. Service was indifferent, ignored by one lady who appeared to be of some importance, perhaps above talking to new guests. Our actual waitress was ok. No real stand out, no dish recommendations or beverage help. Very much up to us. Food did arrive promptly, our server then returned to a table from which she paid more attention to her mobile phone than her guests. The barista was nice. I would not say don't go but I would say there are better choices. A quirky looking place, but a few wood fires and eclectic look is only a stage set, the real performance is in what you pay for. Bit like watching a school play in the Sydney opera house.

We were a group of 9 coming for lunch last week. We were greeted by a very unfriendly waitress who acted like she was doing us a big favour in serving us. Honestly her attitude ruined our experience. In saying that we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals which were really delicious.

Wonderful lunch of share plates and wine. great relaxing atmosphere with very welcoming staff. warm fires burning on a cold winters day. Bright and cheery.
