Iron Gate - Boutte

First visit since moving to the new building and new name. As before the fries are hand cut. Tea served in a giant mason jar to avoid needing refill although waitress kindly topped me off. Shared the fish shrimp combo with my guest. Just enough for both of us as we are not large eaters. Like the batter on fish and shrimp. Not heavy and was not oily. Restaurant is decorated as nicely as the previous location. Hope it will be successful.

Slow service. Burger tasted like it had been sitting in water. Onion rings and fries barely warm. Servers didn’t know which tables each other were working. Long wait time.

Don't waste your time here unless you like boring food. The only thing this place has going for them is the decor in the restaurant. Taste no different then a I hop restaurant.

Tried the new location, recently, based off of numerous recommendations. Luling is desperate for a restaurant that offers home cooking. They post hot plates on Facebook but they aren't available at night. Hamburgers and sandwiches aren't going to cut it at night. Whatever their lunch specials are, should be available at night. My husband was looking for a real dinner, not just a wrap or burger. We didn't want to just leave so we stayed. We arrived at 7 and was advised that the kitchen closed at 8:15. We were rushed from start to finish by our server. He brought us boxes to pack up our food within 20 minutes of getting our plates and brought us our check! We were still eating! Hot plate specials need to be available for dinner, not just lunch, and a permanent menu needs to be readily available and easily accessible on their FB page. Hopefully they'll be able to provide Luling with a great dinner location in the future.

This place never disappoints. Daily specials. Today my husband had the crawfish enchiladas and he said it was very good. I had the smothered rabbit over white beans and rice. The rabbit was so tender it fell off the bone and very flavorful. The service is wonderful. You are taken care of but they don't hover. We were too full for dessert but they looked fantastic. The interior is a mix match of different chairs and tables, which just adds to the southern charm atmosphere.
