La Brebis Au Comptoir - Bordeaux

Stumbled across La Brebis on a wet Saturday night looking for a drink. Saw the cheeseboard so ordered it together with two glasses of Medoc. Excellent cheeseboard, great breads and excellent wine. Service good and some interesting music!

We had a pit stop here for lunch but although the bowl of crisps were nice, the rest was nothing to write home about. We made a mistake sitting here. We asked about the food but I guess it was lost in translation! A burger role with Goats cheese and salad leaves and Camembert (or similar) cheese in a bun with dressing and leaves. No meat which in fairness did say so on the menu. Ate what we could and left. Partly our fault for not understanding the menu. If you are a vegetarian it might be right up your street. We will stick to venues for carnivores.

Glad I decided to stop here rather than one of the nearby places. The brunch they offered was only 14E and included a good serving of yogurt, egg w/ham, kiwi fruit, coffee (or wine), OJ, and some amazing brebis cheese with a selection of bread or muffin. I would suggest adding at least one more server to assist there was only one and every table on the square as well as inside was seated. Despite that, she was still very pleasant. The chef prepared a great presentation of the food on slate slabs and very tasty. It was a great breakfast. Each table was simply decorated with a jar of fresh cut flowers and the tables on the square were cozy. Such a pleasant atmosphere!

We arrived in Bordeaux, checked into our Airbnb round the corner and wanted somewhere low key and authentic to start our 3 day eating and drinking extravaganza. We sat on high stools by the window and shared a platter of 3 drool inducing cheeses, 3 tasty cured hams and a massive dollop of rich, unctuous goose rillettes, all served with a selection of the freshest crunch French stick and really excellent local wine (2 glasses each) and the whole thing came to approx €25. Bargain. SOLD!!

On a terrace on a square with little traffic, this restaurant offers us a pleasant moment in an atmosphere "bobobobo relaxation". smiling and friendly waitresses, correct prices and delicious dishes. Nothing to say!
