I frequently dine at Shima's on Saturdays with my family. The restaurant offers a wonderful selection of tasty Asian cuisine that is consistently exciting and delicious. The dishes are expertly prepared and bursting with flavor, making it a perfect choice for those craving authentic Asian home-cooked meals. My partner and I always have a great time when we visit and I highly suggest trying the A Bit of Everything option for those who have trouble making decisions - it's a fantastic way to experience all the delicious offerings.
I tried Shima's rendang, Nasi Goreng, and noodles at the Bolton Food Festival last week. I returned to Bolton to see what the market was like on a regular day and couldn't resist stopping by Shima's stall. The beef rendang and lemon rice were incredible, and I realized I had been making peanut satay wrong all this time. The food was superb and served by lovely, smiling ladies.
I have lived in Singapore for over 8 years and visited with my wife and daughter, both of whom are Singaporean on a trip back home a couple of weeks ago. My wife was craving a taste of home and it hit the spot. The Char Kway Teow we had was very good, even without the fried lard that is normally used in Singapore (note this place is halal). Good 'East Asian ' food is hard to come across in Bolton, as it has usually been altered in taste to cater for the local palate, but thankfully this place has kept its authenticity. Bonus for giving lots of samples to my ever hungry daughter!
So I had planned to visit on a Saturday afternoon for lunch but arrived later than expected at 3pm. I managed to get the rest of the veg noodles and butter prawns and my Husband had goat and mutton curry. We visit Asia a lot and have tried many Malay dishes whilst on holiday in Malaysia and I have to say what a gem of a place serving authentic, fresh and tasty food. I did take some home and re heated in the oven which evaporated some of the sauce, so I think I will always eat it fresh in the market or seek further cooking tips from Shima's. Should you ever do cooking classes let me know I would be first to learn how to cook these dishes. Don't hesitate to visit and try this place!
