Brae is the ultimate culinary experience. the front of the house team is amazing that the love for detail and the authentic service is incomparable; there is a real care and obvious human emotion with everything they do. eating is exceptional, it flows beautiful and speaks of the local opposite pairing of drinks is thoughtful and well articulated.
Exceeded expectations, can’t praise the experience highly enough. The staff’s attention to detail and service was outstanding. Highly recommend having a mid meal walk around the gardens to enjoy everything Brae has to offer.Thank you again
The meal itself was quite underwhelming. A few dishes were enjoyable, but many were average, with some being unenjoyable enough that we didn’t even finish them. The baked beetroot, in particular, was a standout disappointment that neither my wife nor I could continue eating. The portion sizes were significantly small, leaving us unsatisfied by the end of the meal; it felt like we were still waiting for more food to come out, only to realize that it was over! The wine pairing was the worst part of the experience. At $180 per person, you’d expect intriguing wines that complement the food well. While there were a couple of decent selections, nothing felt remarkable. To make matters worse, we looked up the retail prices of some wines and found one available for just $30 a bottle! The pinot noir was priced at $60 a bottle, which should have been the highlight of the evening paired with the last main course. Additionally, the servings were tiny—less than half a normal glass—and with only six wines throughout the night, the overall value felt terribly lacking. That meant we received the equivalent of just 3 full glasses at an average of $60 each! This pricing might work if the wines were worth $200+ per bottle, but for $30 and $60 wines? Even if the wine pairing were priced at $50, I would still consider it a poor value. As for the service, it was pleasant but nothing exceptional. We never felt particularly welcomed, though we can’t complain either. If you're considering Brae, I suggest looking into much better, more affordable dining options in Melbourne. And if you’re still determined to go, prioritize the food and definitely skip the wine pairing—it’s not worth the cost!
When they meant out of the garden, did taste like it. Menu was nothing special, definitely not worth the drive and for $1,000 between two people. Nice staff but weird rules, no writing on the dessert, bug in my wine and I got less of a refill, food was one word... underwhelming.
