Shu Shop - Birmingham

Two weeks ago, I met up with some friends at this restaurant. The servers were friendly and the food and drinks were enjoyable. However, my experience was marred when I came across a strange notice in the restroom. It was written in Korean, Japanese, and Chinese, which I found surprising given that the restaurant was Japanese. This made me question whether it was a form of Asian hate and discrimination.

Our waiter was fantastic! He was very friendly and even let us keep the adorable Sake container. However, the bartender was rude. She scolded us for the oil lamp incident, making us feel like leaving. We apologized, but she could have been kinder. Her constant dissatisfaction is evident in her facial expressions. I believe she would benefit from Botox treatment.

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. From the outside, it didn't look like much, but the atmosphere inside was great. We enjoyed everything we tried, especially the shishito peppers and sweet and sour Brussels sprouts. The Shoyu Ramen was also delicious, with a rich, flavorful broth despite its transparent appearance. The restaurant also has a good bar.

Not going to even lie this was the best dining experience I've had in a while! Everything was topnotch. Food, servers, drinks, atmosphere/lighting. Everything was A Get the Vegetarian Ramen and Brussel Sprouts ????

The vegan spicy nebel at this restaurant is mouthwatering. They have taken precautions against COVID-19 by sacrificing some of their seating to keep their workers and customers safe. They now only offer take-out, which is carefully packed with warming lines and a note encouraging customers to reuse the containers. The owner and staff are exceptional, and the food and drinks are delicious. What more could you ask for in a dining experience?
