Michhalettos pizza restaurant, is the Best in Bevagna, if not all Italy. This gentleman runs a tight ship as stated the pizzas are world class, so much so that i am bringing the ambience to Australia. His mother makes the best Tirramasu, to die for, and Gabrielle attends to your table first stopped there in 2015,2017,2022. 2022 we drove from Cortona and even drove from Cortona twice in October, November to taste his culinary delights. No this review is not paid for, just an honest Australian with his wife and friends enjoying Italy hospitality and food. This man is a living treasure worth the jaunt!
Last year we wanted to visit Bevagna again before the return trip to Belgium. The plan was to have something to eat there as well. The parking at the front was full so we entered the town through the city gate at the waterfall at the back. Immediately we saw a small restaurant with a popular terrace: Miccheletto . Not the most attractive, but since we didn 't have much time... We were welcomed very friendly, after 2 minutes we already had our drink (with chips, always nice when you get that offered unsolicited... and after 5 minutes the order was taken: 'pizza Margheritissima '; We had never seen this on a menu before, a Margherita topped with mozzarella slices. Less than 10 minutes later a large, nice smelling pizza was on the table in front of us: the dough was the thinnest we 'd ever seen, but baked so well that you can hold the pieces firmly in your hand, and what a taste! This was the best cooked and tastiest we had eaten in our 8 years of traveling in Italy. Normally at the end of a pizza you 're like: damn, if it was only still a little warmer but even then this pizza was still delicious. After this surprising main course, they very kindly came to clear everything quickly and we asked for dessert. We try the tiramisu everywhere, so here too. They immediately offered to 'share ' a tiramisu, something we had never been offered elsewhere. 2 minutes later a plate with 2 spoons was standing between us, it had a romantic touch... And o yes : the tiramisu is very tasteful. So a super successful end of the trip. So much that this year (we are traveling again in Umbria we definitely wanted to come back and eat in Miccheletto . And we weren 't cheated: the pizza here is by far the best pizza. This year we even asked if we could change something with regard to the menu, namely a Rucola with Prosciutto Cotto, instead of the Rucola with Prosciutto Crudo mentioned on the menu. No problem at all, and yummy, mmm... . My daughter told me after I repeated this 5 times, that it was clear now ; . And again that hospitality: you can see an feel that they care about their guests here. Highly recommended for anyone staying in the area!!! Especially the Pizza !
Italy and Pizza go hand in hand but for the very best pizza in Umbria go to Bevagna and eat at Miccheletto Claudio the owner meets and greets everyone and you are guaranteed a great pizza or just a drink watching the world go by in the piazza. I’ve eaten pizza all over Italy and trust me these are superb
Stopped by for a pizza and a glass of wine. The pizza was okish, but worse than average and more expensive than what we had even in the same village. The wine was a disgrace, given that this is one of the villages of the Sagrantino region we had far better wine literally everywhere else in this region, and for a lot less money.
