Seven Stars - BENTLEIGH EAST

The dim sims here are the best in Melbourne. While I've tried other items on the menu and found them lacking, I keep coming back for the dim sims. They are truly outstanding!

The decor is lovely and classically Chinese. There's a wall separating the takeout area from the dining space, which is nice because it means you can enjoy your meal without others watching. However, the restrooms are located down a dimly lit alley past the kitchen, making it a bit unnerving—try to hold off until you get home! For my meal, I ordered the Vegetarian Lettuce Delight, Rice Paper Duck Rolls, Chicken Rolls, and Vegetarian Spring Rolls as starters, along with the Chicken Long Soup. Everything was delicious, but the highlights were definitely the Lettuce Delight, which was fresh, crunchy, and incredibly tasty. The duck rolls were simply divine, bursting with flavor from the duck and mushrooms, even if they’re a bit on the greasy side—it’s worth it! The Spring Rolls were served hot, crispy, and paired perfectly with the sweet chili dipping sauce. For the main course, I had my favorite dish here: the Honey Glazed Duck. It's listed among the chef’s recommendations and boasts crispy skin, deboned meat, and an ample amount of delicious sauce served on a bed of Bok Choy—sometimes I switch it up and have it with Snow Peas. Other dishes worth trying include the Satay sticks, Crispy Rainbow Beef, and Cantonese Fillet Steak. As for desserts, they have the usual Chinese options, and the Pineapple Fritters are quite good. Whether you dine in or take away, the experience is fantastic, and you always receive complimentary prawn chips. As always, my visit left me completely satisfied—I can always count on them to deliver!

**Appetizers:** The Dim Sims and Spring Rolls are amazing! If you prefer a sweeter dim sim, I genuinely believe these are the best in the area. **Soups:** The Short Soup is excellent. It has a robust flavor (not too bland), and the dumplings are both tasty and abundant. **Main Courses:** The sizzling dishes are a highlight, particularly the chicken, ginger, and vegetables from my most recent visit. The noodle and rice dishes are also excellent. However, I'm not a fan of the other stir-fries, as I find them to be a bit too watery. **Service:** I found the service to be exceptional and very friendly. Even though I'm not a regular, they remember my dish preferences, especially when it comes to the appetizers.

Impressed. PROS: Best Chinese joint I've been to in a long time. Friendly and efficient service, impeccable food and all for a very economical price. Has a lovely relaxing family atmosphere. Is definitely a keeper! <br/ <br/ CONS: Went on a Saturday night and the place was packed so was a bit of a wait but was well worth it.<br/ <br/ Additionally, the waitress who served us was extremely pleasant didn't try to oversell and made the dinner very accommodating.
