Cosy and very friendly coffee spot in a quiet side street. Good coffee. They also have excellent small dishes, we liked the homemade soup and the delicious vegetarian cakes. We are used to eating lunch quite late for swiss standards, at about 16:00, however we didn't expect that EVERY restaurant would be closed (it was a Sunday). We were about to resolve to mc donald's but discovered this little place in Andreas Platz. Nobody...spoke any english (at least to us), but we saw a nice looking quiche and a pie and ordered them with some salad. I left under the impression that it's a vegetarian cafe, but since nobody spoke to me, i might be wrong. Good to satisfy your hunger until the more traditional restaurants open for dinner.

Hard finding somewhere to eat on a Sunday lunch time without breaking the bank. This place fits the bill, but can get busy as it is good value. In a nice courtyard, very relaxing.

....ist dieses Selbstbedienungscafé mit recht hohen Preisen. Der Kuchen war lecker und die Stücke groß. Der Kaffee war in Ordnung und aus dem Siebträger. Das Personal recht jung und freundlich - macht alles einen etwas studentischen Eindruck. Man fühlt sich hier am am Andreasplatz sehr wohl, da man etwas abseits des Altstadttrubels sitzt. Wenn man in Basel bummelt sollte man hier pausieren.

Um die Mittagszeit ist es immer etwas schwierig einen Platz im Hinterhof zu bekommen. Es gibt immer kleine Speisen, die täglich frisch zubereitet werden. Sehr schmackhaft und lohnenswert. Self-Service.
