What was supposed to be nice dinner with my boyfriend turned out be to be a bad way to end the year. Firstly we had a reservation at the Bow Valley Grill in the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel for 8:15pm Dec.31/17. We arrived a half an hour early only to wait until about 8:45pm to be sat, understandable as it was a busy night. When we were sat at a table in the back corner by the window we looked down beside the table, there was a vent about two feet high and when we looked inside we saw the reflection of a mouse tail. I then turned my phones flashlight on to confirm what I had seen, yes, there was a dead white mouse curled up beside our table. Our server came over, I said, don’t freak out but there is a dead mouse here, she said my apologies I am so embarrassed promptly sat us at a new table said let’s start this again, she was great. As you would typically expect, in a situation like this, for a manager to come over, he didn’t. Our server had let him know about the situation, he went over to the table, looked beside the table, then continued to set it. He then proceeded to sit another couple there, who had requested that specific table. The buffet for the evening was alright to say the least, most of the food was cold, the dessert watery others dry. The best part of our evening were our drinks. In the end our server had taken care of our glasses of wine. Our bill was still $174.00! For 2 dinner buffets, that weren’t even good. The whole evening was a bad experience from start to finish. We ended up going to the keg for some appetizers drinks before ringing in the new year. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone after this experience.

I went for the Sunday Brunch and I was amazed by the wonderful food selection they give , Their staff were so kind and friendly . One extraordinarily amazing thing is that they freshly cut their wonderful selection of meat onto the buffet table . My family and I really enjoyed that meal ! Bonus ! Beautiful Views of the Icy Mountains ! The only reason I gave 4 Stars is because that I think that it's very expensive and not for some Casual Meals ! Or rather it's for some Special Occasions !
Amazing food but even more importantly, spectacular staff who were going to go above and beyond the call of duty, definitely. I'm sorry to read some negative reviews here and actually quite surprised considering how great they were for our recent three day stay last week. Here are just three quick examples of how amazing the staff are. Number one the incredible omlette chef- somehow he was simultaneously cooking five different omelettes, he could keep all the ingredients in his head and who belong to what order and everything was cooked absolutely perfectly, and nothing over done or under done, How is that even possible when I can't even cook one good omelette? Also he was very sweet and friendly despite the obnoxious family including two Morose screaming teenagers who were driven all the way from Massachusetts, clearly they didn't deserve such a cross country trip staying in spectacular five star hotels because those teens Dressed in their pajamas really just needed a reality check to learn how to be grateful and thankful and not complaining and being obnoxious to the staff. Number two, our incredible waitress on our first morning, When she saw our kids were sick with sore throat she quickly got salt packaged up in the kitchen so they could gargle with hot water, and she knew that our timing was tight and we were on our way skiing at sunshine and didn't have time to buy granola bars to keep in our pockets for energy so she packaged up six delicious homemade free granola bars for us! Number three, our amazing brunette waitress on our last morning was also incredible, somehow on a waitress salary she is supporting four teenagers and a very sick dog, how is that even possible, good luck to her and thank you so much for the great serviceEverybody!
