It's a real shame that George's Hamburger Shop across the street has closed down. During my recent visit to Bairnsdale, I decided to try something new. I went to Peppers and sampled their "hamburgers with the lot," which were quite good. The flavors were fresh and delicious. One thing I appreciated was that the burger held together well while I was eating it—definitely a plus. The only reason I can't give them a five-star rating is because George's is in a league of its own. No one can compare, let alone surpass them.

Order gluten-free scattered barramundi and chips and a normal battery barramundi. Both fish and chips were perfected and enjoyed immensely.

I used to regularly get a piece of fish here every week. Had never been disappointed. I'm downgrading my review now because when I get served most times it feels like I'm inconveniencing the owner/staff by ordering food. Thought I was just catching them at a bad moment. But now it seems to be every visit. They need to put on a much happier face and engage with their customers. If they can't do that they are in the wrong business. It's not just about the food, if you make people feel bad they won't come back.
