Parrilla Hot Coal Kitchen

The food is excellent and the service is good for a new restaurant. I'm sure it will improve after they work out the expected initial issues. The staff is friendly, but the portion sizes could be a bit larger considering the prices. I will definitely be returning with friends. Good luck and welcome to Avalon Beach!

Last Friday evening, my son and I had a meal at this restaurant. We both ordered the pulled pork with homemade coleslaw and tortillas on the side. I realized it was meant for sharing only when it was served. The atmosphere was lovely, the service was excellent, and the menu was unique.

Being a new spot I visited and asked for a beef brisket burger. What I got was a completely horrible concoction it contained 4 very small pieces of meat with questionable quality. It had copious amounts of mayonnaise and other sauces oozing our of the bun with a few pieces of lettuce. It cost me $18.00 ... never again.

To my house! OMG this may go down as one of my most memorable meals ever. Lovely service and very accommodating for us with a toddler in tow. I had the beef brisket and a side of cauliflower. I could have ate it all day. Kids meal was a huge chicken roll which hubby happily helped polish off. Great atmosphere, I imagine it would be really humming during the busier seasons. Give it a try, it was amazing! My mouth is watering just writing this!

We ate here recently as I wanted to try out 'the new restaurant in Avalon'. It is small inside and has a good retro vibe with the aluminium tables and coloured plates. Shame that the prime table in the window receives a huge draft most likely the updraft from the grill, we moved...The menu looked interesting, I ordered the scampi for something different and a couscous salad to go with it as it came with nothing but a tiny garnish. My guest had the steak and veg. We ordered a carafe of wine which only turned up after asking again for it. The food came out promptly on wooden boards.. and the salad in a separate cute dish. I'm not a fan of eating off boards as I find things just fall off! I had to eat my salad by picking up the bowl each time to take a mouthful as there wasn't enough room to have it next to my board. The scampi were cooked very well, I chose the three serve for I think $18, there was barely two mouthfuls of meat in the three combined, bad choice for me. I needed the salad which was at least a generous size. Nothing too inspiring though unfortunately. My guest had the steak which was a generous size and cooked beautifully. He had to ask for mustard as it wasn't offered. The carafe of wine was $30 which I though expensive. In fact the whole meal in my opinion was expensive. The bill for two main courses and a carafe was $92, I tried adding it up afterwards and couldn't work out where the last $6 came from. I think they may have charged for a six serve on the scampi. To be honest, I wouldn't be rushing back for dinner at these prices, I thought it was a cafe not a full priced restaurant... I think $46 a head was a lot for what we got. I might return for lunch to try one of the cheaper options but looking at the reviews about skimpy serves of meat I might not bother. The place wasn't packed on a Saturday night, and at these prices and small serves it won't be. Shame..
