That said, it got very busy as time went on. They have a decent 2 and 3 course set menu but we opted to go a la carte, ordering a smoked salmon starter and beetroot with goats cheese and candied walnuts for myself. Both edible but to be fair, they appeared basic and something easily russled up at home. Onwards to a thai chicken noodle and aromatic duck with crispy rice noodles. The first was tasty and enjoyed by herself, hints of coconut sure to please. the duck underwhelming with 2 distinct lngedients ruining the flavour and aromatic duck should be served crispy, needed another 5/10 mins in the oven. Corriander leaves and a second undiscovered flavour just didnt work. No to the hlthe rice noodles too. Sides came included, tomato salad just shouldn't be served wilth noodles, however the potato slices were welcome. Staff were friendly and the restaurant decor has won awards. We didnt enjoy the craft beers we selected, but the Italian wine was decent.
We had a lovely lunch here during our holiday. The food was excellent, amazing wine list, the atmosphere relaxed with excellent service and the banoffee pie for dessert was to die for. We would highly recommend the left bank a little gem in the centre of Athlone
Having seen the great reviews we tried the restaurant for lunch., which is located in a nice part of Athlone near the river. We had a table in the very nice front area by the large windows. The soup was leak and potato, which was a bit unadventurous, although it tasted fine; the accompanying focacia was very thick and bland (unsure why other reviewers liked it so much). The goats cheese crostini was good (the cheese itself truly delicious), although the tomato in the salad part was unripe and tasteless. The hake goujons were very good the accompanying fried potato disks were fine but a bit boring, and the salad, again, was pretty bland (with very unappetizing tomato). The chicken goujons (child portion) were decent, and generous. Service was very good and attentive. Overall, although the food had some very good aspects, it was a bit disappointing nonetheless, especially given the many good reviews on here. Certainly, very good service, but the restaurant is let down by a lack of attention to detail with some parts of the dishes.
A great little lunch stop near Sean’s bar. Friendly service, good food, clean restrooms. Hamburgers, friend Brie and soup were delicious!
Beautiful food and wonderful staff, especially Denise G who welcomes every patron like a family member, regularly go to this restaurant when home in Ireland, highly recommend
